Contraband and Inmate Violence Prompt Lockdown Across 19 TDCJ Units

To address a recent surge in dangerous contraband and drug-related violence, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) announced the lockdown and comprehensive search of higher-custody inmates across 19 units.

As of August 14, higher custody (G4/G5) inmates in the following six units are still under restrictive movement, with visitation cancelled.

To address a recent surge in dangerous contraband and drug-related violence, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) has announced the lockdown and comprehensive search of higher-custody inmates across 19 units.

Effective July 30, higher custody (G4/G5) inmates in the following units will be under restrictive movement, and visitation will be cancelled.

Once comprehensive searches of living areas of these higher custody inmates are complete, normal operations will resume.
