Volunteer Awards
The Texas Board of Criminal Justice and TDCJ are proud to partner with the Office of the Governor to recognize the outstanding individuals, groups, and organizations whose dedication, compassion, and service make a lasting impact on the lives of justice‑involved Texans.
Nominate a Volunteer for an Award
Each year, the Governor’s Volunteer Awards honor those who demonstrate exceptional commitment to supporting rehabilitation, restoration, and successful reentry through volunteer service. From faith‑based and nonprofit leaders to mentors, educators, and community organizations, these award recipients embody the belief that positive change is possible when Texans come together with purpose.
The awards were created in 1995 through collaborative efforts between the Office of Governor George W. Bush and the Texas Board of Criminal Justice.
