Recruiting Awards & Bonuses

Hiring Bonus — Parole Officers & Maintenance Supervisors
New full-time recruits in Parole Officer (select locations) and Maintenance Supervisor roles may be eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus.
Eligibility:
- Parole Officers assigned to Midland, Monahans or Odessa
- Full-time parole officers who were newly hired and graduated from the parole officer academy on or after September 12, 2018
- Full-time maintenance supervisors who were newly hired or graduated from the academy on or after April 27, 2018
- TDCJ retirees who rehired after 90 calendar days of retirement from TDCJ, or
- TDCJ former employees rehired after one year of separation from TDCJ, or
- Current non-uniformed TDCJ employees are eligible for the recruiting bonus upon employment into a full-time parole officer or maintenance supervisor position. If the employee has been in a uniformed position during the last 12 months, the employee is ineligible to enter into a recruitment bonus contract. Additionally, employees who have previously received a recruiting bonus are not eligible to receive an additional bonus.
Terms:
- You must be eligible to receive the recruitment bonus.
- You must sign a contract agreeing to work for one year from the date of bonus payment.
- You must repay the bonus in-full or partially if employment with TDCJ ends before one year from the date of bonus payment.
Executive Director’s Recruiting Award
Current TDCJ employees can earn a $100 gift card and 8 hours of administrative leave for referring new candidates to apply and work as a Correctional Officer, Maintenance Supervisor, or Equipment Operator (truck driver).* The newly hired employee must remain employed for at least six calendar months for the referring employee to receive the award.
Three Easy Steps:
- Encourage a relative or friend to apply for a Correctional Officer, Maintenance Supervisor, or Equipment Operator (Truck Driver) position.
- Complete and sign Applicant Referral form.
- Have the applicant complete and sign the Applicant Information section and submit the referral form with his/her application, or present the referral form at the time of job interview.
*The maximum number of recruiting awards an employee may receive per fiscal year is 10 gift cards, worth $1,000, and 80 hours of administrative leave. Administrative leave will expire one calendar year from the date it was issued. Referring TDCJ employees may choose from the following gift card options: Academy, Amazon, or Walmart. The value of the gift card is considered taxable income. The referring employee must be employed to receive the recruiting award.
