What We Do

The mission of the Fusion Center is to cooperatively source data from all entities that impact or are impacted by agency operations, to collaborate with external law enforcement and homeland security partners, and to provide responsive information to all stakeholders in an effort to detect, disrupt, and dismantle the operations of threat actors.

The Fusion Center is composed of investigators and analysts from the Texas Board of Criminal Justice Office of the Inspector General, Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) staff with backgrounds in multiple divisions, gang intelligence personnel, and embedded contracted investigators.

The Fusion Center manages the Texas Anti-Gang Information Tracking (TAGIT) system by:

  • Maintaining an information clearinghouse to collect and process relevant TDCJ gang intelligence provided by investigative staff and law enforcement agencies.

  • Providing timely reports and assessments through comprehensive intelligence analysis.

  • Increasing networking interactions and improving relationships between staff and law enforcement to encourage the collaborative sharing of information.

The Fusion Center manages both the inmate and civilian/staff tip lines, which both allow individuals to report illicit activities involving contraband introduction and distribution. We encourage the reporting of contraband-related activities that are detrimental to the well-being and rehabilitation of our incarcerated population and the safety of our agency staff.
