27th Annual Governor’s Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Awards
Huntsville Man Receives Governor’s Criminal Justice Administrator Award
(AUSTIN) – Timothy Fitzpatrick of Huntsville, Texas was presented the Criminal Justice Administrator of the Year award during the Governor’s 2022 Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Awards program today.
The award was presented by Texas Board of Criminal Justice Chairman Patrick O’Daniel and TDCJ Executive Director Bryan Collier at a ceremony in Austin.
“These individuals have gone above and beyond in their volunteer efforts. No words or awards will be enough thanks for these individuals. We are grateful they decided to use their time and talents for good at TDCJ,” said O’Daniel.
“TDCJ and this state are better because of these award recipients. They are heroes who are making a profound and lasting impact on the lives of so many across the Lone Star State,” said Collier.
Timothy Fitzpatrick’s extraordinary leadership while serving as the Warden at the Pack Unit has been exemplary in providing significant support in allowing staff to fulfill programming objectives. His unit-wide mission stresses the importance of programming and the rehabilitation of inmates. His service and support to the volunteers at the Pack Unit allows them to lead in that mission and impacts the overall service provided to the inmate population. Under his outstanding leadership, he and his staff facilitated increased volunteer participation, which has increased inmate participation, which in turn has enhanced unit morale. Timothy Fitzpatrick goes above and beyond the call of duty every day by making sure his staff and inmates understand that he cares about not only their duty but also their unique family situations. He models the mission of the TDCJ and his focus on that mission in inspiring. He has been the light to so many who live in darkness and his service has not gone unnoticed.
Timothy Fitzpatrick is one of 17 individuals and 5 organizations from across the state recognized for their efforts to help inmates and those who are on parole or probation.
In FY2021, there were 21,310 volunteers who provided a total of 47,290 hours of service.
