Seedling Foundation (Formerly Travis Education Foundation)

Supports children challenged by parental incarceration through innovative, research driven, school-based mentoring.

Services Offered: Seedling's mentor program is provided throughout 90 schools in Central Texas. These schools are in Austin ISD, Del Valle ISD, Hays ISD, Manor ISD, and Pflugerville ISD. Additionally, children attending "satellite" schools and charters are supported by the program, as mentors choose to continue the mentoring relationship after a child moves to a school that is not designated as a "Seedling" school. Mentors are matched with children ranging from kindergarten through the eighth grade, though many mentoring relationships extend into high school and beyond. Students are identified by parents, teachers, principals, counselors, or other adults who deem them eligible to have a mentor.
