Cashier Services

Records and reconciles revenue/reimbursements and transfers those funds to the State Treasury on behalf of the agency

  • Record, reconcile and transfer revenue to the State Treasury. Revenue(s) include, but are not limited to, monies received from agricultural and salvage/surplus sales, Texas Correctional Industries (TCI) sales, refunds and reimbursements, along with fees for laundry/barber services, employee housing and open records requests.
  • Processing unit activity deposits, such as vocational fees, commissary and craft sales and monies belonging to newly processed inmates and confiscated monies.
  • Monitor, maintain and reconcile all unit clearing and manager’s clearing bank accounts.
  • Management of vehicle titles, to include filing titles and processing paperwork when a vehicle is sold or disposed.

Travel

To provide assistance and guidance to agency employees regarding travel needs and process travel vouchers in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Audit, analyze and process payments to employees and vendors related to travel expenses.
  • Interpret and apply state and agency policies for compliance when paying travel claims.
  • Functions as the agency's travel agency to include researching flight information, reserving and booking employee's airline travel; assisting with booking car rentals and hotel reservations.

Restitution & Fees

Records and distributes all funds collected for restitution, supervision fees, crime victim’s compensation fees, sexual assault program fees, and post secondary education.

  • Restitution: Money the court orders a defendant to pay to a victim who has suffered financial losses caused by a crime. This is imposed on the judgement and sentence.
  • Supervision Fees: Fees mandated by the State Legislature to offset the cost of supervision. Funds collected are transferred into the State General Fund.
  • Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund: Victims of crime can receive compensation from the Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund for lost wages, medical expenses, psychiatric expenses, funeral expenses, etc. Funds collected are transferred to the State Attorney General’s Office for disbursement.
  • Sexual Assault Program Fees: Victims of sexual assault can receive services offered by the Sexual Assault Prevention and Crisis Services, a program of the Crime Victim Services Division administered by the Attorney General’s Office.
  • Post Secondary Education Reimbursement: Any inmate who takes vocational courses or college credit courses is required to reimburse the state for the full amount of the course once paroled.

Responsibilities

  • Balance and monitor fee payments collected from inmates released on parole or mandatory supervision
  • Maintain and set up Vendor Identification numbers for Restitution victims
  • Assist Parole Offices with questions on fee assessment
  • Oversee automated restitution payment process
  • Serve as a liaison to victims regarding the Restitution process
  • Issue discharge checks for inmates to be released from TDCJ; in addition to monitoring, reconciling and auditing the account for compliance.
