Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is TDCJ implementing CAPPS?

While this transition is a requirement by the Texas State Legislature, CAPPS is a step in the right direction for modernizing the way the TDCJ Payroll and Human Resources departments operate. This change also provides an increase in efficiency and transparency for all employees when it comes to time balances, payroll form submissions, and more!

When is TDCJ going to begin using CAPPS?

Currently, TDCJ is set to begin using CAPPS in mid-2026.

Will this affect my schedule or when I get paid?

No, your work schedule will remain the same and all TDCJ employees will continue to be paid on the first business day of every month.

What do I need to do?

Stay alert for agency updates regarding CAPPS on TDCJ social media pages, via e-mail, and on digital signage. Throughout 2026, you will be provided with information, requirements and training that will help you with this transition.
