New CID Regional Directors Have Been Named

Lorie Davis, Director of the Correctional Institutions Division, recently announced the selection of four new regional directors.

Tony O'Hare has been promoted to the position of Region I Director. O'Hare has over 28 years of experience with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Most recently, Tony has been the senior warden at the Estelle Unit in Huntsville. O'Hare replaces Richard Alford who recently retired from TDCJ.

Matthew Barber has been promoted to the position of Region II Director. Barber brings with him over 24 years of experience within the agency, to include serving in the capacity of senior warden on multiple facilities. Most recently, Matt has been the senior warden of the McConnell Unit in Beeville. Barber replaces Kelvin Scott who was recently promoted to the position of Director of the Administrative Review and Risk Management Division.

John Werner has been promoted to the position of Region III Director. Werner has more than 24 years of correctional experience. John has served as senior warden at multiple units across the state. Most recently, Werner was the warden the Hughes Unit in Gatesville. Werner replaces Leonard Echessa who was recently named Correctional Institutions Division Deputy Director of Support Operation.

Melodye Nelson has been promoted to the position of Region VI Director. Nelson brings with her over 27 years of experience with the agency. Most recently, Melodye served as the senior warden for the last six years at the Mountain View Unit in Gatesville. Nelson replaces Eric Guerrero who was recently promoted to the position of Director of Correctional Training and Staff Development.
