Parole Division Director Stuart Jenkins to retire, Thielke selected as new Director
In July, 34 year veteran of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Stuart Jenkins will retire from his position as the director of the agency's Parole Division. Jenkins started his TDCJ career in 1982 as a district parole officer in Houston and served in various management positions over the years, including stints as a regional director and section director for the Parole Division. Jenkins also served as the Parole Division's deputy director of support operations, overseeing the sections of Review and Release Processing, Specialized Programs, Warrants, and Staff Services. For the last 9 years, he has served as the Parole Director.
"It has been a pleasure serving this agency and the state of Texas," Jenkins said. "I will miss the dedicated men and women of TDCJ who do an exceptional job of keeping the citizens of this state safe."
Taking his place as the director of Parole Division is Pamela Thielke, another veteran TDCJ employee. Thielke has been the Parole Division Deputy Director since September 2009. In May 2012, she began overseeing Field Operations. She has been responsible for the oversight of 67 parole offices statewide along with the supervision of more than 87,000 offenders released on parole and mandatory supervision, as well as the management of approximately 2,000 employees.
Thielke began her criminal justice career in 1989 as a Parole Caseworker in Houston before advancing to Parole Officer. Over the years she has held various management positions in TDCJ including Unit Supervisor, Program Specialist/Resource Operations Manager, Parole Supervisor, Assistant Region Director and Section Director of Specialized Programs.
Thielke is a graduate of St. Cloud State University in Minnesota where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Psychology. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Corrections Association and is an active member of the American Probation and Parole Association.
Congratulating Thielke on her promotion to director of the Parole Division, TDCJ Executive Director Brad Livingston said, "Pam is a proven leader who brings more than 27 years experience to the position. She embodies the kind of focused operational leadership critical to the agency's success."
