Employee Spotlight: Irma Gonzalez, Clements Unit

A passion for law enforcement and criminal justice is what led Correctional Officer Irma Gonzalez to join the TDCJ, but it was knowing that she was helping individuals make a change in their lives and protecting the community that turned that passion into a career.

Officer Gonzalez, who serves at the Clements Unit in Amarillo, became a member of the TDCJ team in 2011 and quickly began taking every opportunity to become the best officer she could be.

She attended the Mentor Training program to help guide new officers, as well as the Horsemanship Training course after becoming a Field Force Officer in 2013. From there, she attended Key Control and Armory Training classes and quickly became the unit’s Key Control and Armory Officer. In 2018 she was appointed to be the unit’s Field Training Officer, a position she currently holds.

Officer Gonzalez is a true asset to her unit and the agency. Join us in congratulating Officer Gonzalez for her commitment to the challenging career of corrections.
