40 Years of Service: Correctional Officer James Simpson Jr.
Over his 40 years with the TDCJ, Correctional Officer James Simpson Jr. continues to make a significant impact on his co-workers at the Wynne Unit, the Coffield Unit, and throughout the agency.
Officer Simpson began his career in 1981 at the Wynne Unit and quickly promoted, eventuwally earning the title of captain in 1989.
Officer Simpson retired in 2008 but returned to the agency a year later as a correctional officer at the Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony.
After nine years at the Coffield Unit, Officer Simpson returned to the Wynne Unit in 2017 where he currently serves alongside his daughter, who has been employed at the facility for 16 years.
Officer Simpson strives to assist his fellow officers and employees each day. His dedication and work ethic are truly representative of what it means to be a TDCJ correctional officer.
