Have an opinion about TDCJ? Share it through the Survey of Employee Engagement

 For many Texas Department of Criminal Justice employees, meeting the demands of a challenging, potentially hazardous job is a regular part of the workday. While their real-world job experience gives staff members valuable insight into agency operations, taking advantage of this information resource can be difficult. It just isn’t practical to personally interview thousands of individual employees to ask their advice.

To help policymakers better understand job sentiment among staff and learn about potential solutions to workplace issues, TDCJ has teamed up with the University of Texas at Austin’s Institute for Organizational Excellence to conduct the biennial Survey of Employee Engagement, an employee-based appraisal of agency performance.

This survey allows you to anonymously share your opinions about areas where the agency is doing well and where you think there’s room for improvement. Senior agency staff and elected officials will have access to the survey results, as will the Legislative Budget Board and the Governor’s Office of Budget, Planning and Policy.

Hard copies of the survey can be mailed in using a postage-paid envelope included with the handout. The survey can also be taken and sent in online using the link sent to your TDCJ email account on file or using the link and code on your hardcopy survey.

The Survey of Employee Engagement typically takes around 15 minutes to complete and can be filled out during available work hours. The deadline for sending in your finished survey is January 15, 2022.
