Barber named deputy division director for MAL
Matt Barber
Matt Barber is the new deputy division director for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Logistics Division (MAL), effective February 1. The MAL Division manages the agency’s agribusiness, land and mineral operations, warehousing, and fleet and freight transportation. MAL manufactures quality products and provides critical services while helping offenders prepare for post-release employment.
Barber has more than 27 years of experience with TDCJ. He began his agency career as a correctional officer and was promoted through the ranks to his most recent position as director for the Correctional Institutions Division’s Region II in East Texas.
MAL Division Director Bobby Lumpkin commended Barber’s past service and predicted future success, saying, “Matt brings an unwavering commitment and steadfast integrity to the TDCJ and Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Logistics Division. He will provide strong leadership and an agency-wide perspective while leading the Agribusiness, Land and Mineral operations.”
Barber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.
