The mission of the ARKGroup is to teach adults to give unconditional love that builds self-esteem in children. The ARKGroup reaches out to multiple levels in the community such as schools, churches, jails, juvenile justice programs, and several United Way supported service organizations. In addition, the ARKGroup helps female offenders at the Plane State Jail in Dayton, Texas, learn to be more accepting of themselves, which empowers them to give and receive unconditional love. It is used to prevent further criminal behaviors by building caring, trusting, responsible relationships between the incarcerated participant and their families. This very successful program continues its efforts through an after care program that works with the families once the parent is out of prison and reunited with their children. For their dedication to restoring and building healthy relationships between offenders and their children, the ARKGroup has been selected to receive the volunteer award for Community Service.
