Kevin Marks and Kevin Varner, Private Facility Contract Monitoring/Oversight Division

2010 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Award

As a duo mentoring team at the Kyle Correctional Center in Kyle, Texas, for more than 12 years, Kevin Marks and Kevin Varner have made a tremendous impact on the lives of offenders. They faithfully meet with the offenders they mentor every second and fourth Sunday of the month to help them prepare for the difficulties they will face as they reenter society and as they return home. Mr. Marks and Mr. Varner offer the offenders hope and help build confidence for a successful transition. Because of their leadership qualities, they are both highly respected by staff and offenders. Offenders always offer positive comments to the mentoring experience under their leadership. For their dedication and commitment, Kevin Marks and Kevin Varner have been selected to receive the Private Facilities Contract Monitoring/Oversight Division's volunteer award. They truly are the dynamic duo.
