Tax forms arrive in January

The April 15 tax payment due date is only four months away and the financial forms you need to fill out your tax return are scheduled to be sent out by the agency's Payroll Processing Department to unit and department human resources offices by January 31, 2020.

You will receive a Form W-2, which provides earnings information and the amount withheld from your paycheck for tax payment. Inactive employees on leave without pay or who separated from the agency will receive their W-2 by mail at their home address no later than January 31.

Remember, it’s important to withhold the right amount from your monthly paycheck. Withhold too little, and you’ll have to pay a tax bill at the end of the year. Withhold too much, and you lose access to your money until you get a refund check.

Active employees can contact their benefits coordinator to correct errors on their tax forms. Former employees and retirees should make corrections to their forms by contacting the Employees Retirement System.
