Worman to become TDCJ General Counsel
Kristen Worman is named the new general counsel for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), effective February 18. The Office of the General Counsel provides advice and counsel to TDCJ regarding all aspects of the agency, drafts formal and informal legal opinions, and seeks opinions and rulings from the Office of Attorney General when necessary.
Worman is a legal leader in Texas who has more than 20 years of compliance and litigation experience working for state agencies, universities and private clients. For the past six years she has served as general counsel for both the Texas Appraiser Licensing & Certification Board (TALCB) and deputy general counsel for the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). Prior to joining TALCB and TREC, she was assistant general counsel for The Texas A&M University System. Worman has a range of legal experience having also worked for the Third District Court of Appeals, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Office of the Attorney General.
Worman is a proud Aggie having earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor from the prestigious University of California Hastings College of the Law.
