Dunbar selected as director of Administrative Review and Risk Management Division

Marvin Dunbar has been promoted to director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Administrative Review and Risk Management (ARRM) Division effective January 1, 2020. The ARRM division works to identify and mitigate the agency’s potential risks and liabilities, while promoting safety and accountability. Dunbar has worked as ARRM’s deputy division director since 2014.

Dunbar began his TDCJ career in 1989 as a correctional officer and community liaison with the Correctional Institutions Division. He later served as an auditor with the Internal Audit Division and manager of Support Services in the Rehabilitation Programs Division. During his 30-year agency career, Dunbar has overseen development of a wide range of agency initiatives in areas like chaplaincy and volunteer services, and treatment programs such as the Serious Violent Offender Reentry Initiative and the Administrative Segregation Pre-release Program.

Dunbar holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Sam Houston State University.
