CID names new directors for Region I, Region III
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Correctional Institutions Division has selected Ronald Givens as the new director for CID Region III, and Stephen Bryant as new director for CID Region I. Both appointments are effective August 1, 2019.
Ronald Givens
Givens has more than 25 years’ experience with TDCJ. He began his agency career as a correctional officer at the Ellis I Unit in 1993 and has held every security rank, including service as senior warden at the Glossbrenner Unit, the Segovia/Lopez complex and the Connally Unit. Givens holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lamar University.
CID Director Lorie Davis praised Givens’ work history and capability, saying, “His diverse background, solid operational experience, and unwavering commitment will serve the division and agency well as we encounter new challenges and opportunities.”
CID Region III includes 20 facilities in southeast Texas.
Stephen Bryant
Bryant is a 26-year agency veteran, having started his TDCJ career as a correctional officer at the Polunsky Unit. Since then, he has advanced through every security position, to include service as senior warden at the Duncan Unit, the Pam Lychner State Jail and the Darrington Unit. Bryant holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Mountain State University in West Virginia.
Bryant’s selection was commended by CID Director Davis, who noted, “Mr. Bryant’s integrity, vast correctional knowledge and leadership qualities will serve the division and agency well as we face new challenges and opportunities.”
CID Region I comprises 13 facilities in East Texas.
